500 miles to Canada

Well good morning from the wharf @ Leamington, Ontario, CANADA! This morning we woke up looking out over Lake Erie and I have to say, it is seriously cool to be in Canada.

As planned, we had a full day driving yesterday and travelled just a shade under 500 miles & passed right through the middle of some pretty impressive cities. We skirted around the edge of Louisville but went right through the middle of Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo and Detroit. If you include Ontario, we actually did 4 states yesterday; Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and then Canada. Going over the Ambassador Bridge into Canada was something else!

Some of the roads were truly aweful! Endless potholes, bumps and some really very long sections of roadworks. No major holdups which was good and our RV cruises along happily @ 65mph (although we have to get used to kph again being in Canada). If the traffic does stop, we just switch on the CB & can hear the truckies discussing what the problem is. A couple of times we heard them arguing – they were abusing and swearing at one another which was really funny!

We’ve been without the generator for the last couple of days – not a huge problem cos we still have gas for cooking, hot water and heat, just means we can’t use microwave, toaster, coffee maker (the olds are NOT impressed) or electric frypan.

We are all extremely excited about today, because… Niagara Falls!!!
