an indoor river & signwriting

Good morning… from Amy

As we entered the door all it looked like was a plain old boring hotel… that was until we kept walking. We went through another set of double doors and then it hit us - this is no ordinary hotel. Because you’re standing in a dome full of trees and right in front of your eyes a river passes through. We explored the dome and found out we wanted to be in Magnolia (another atrium). So when we tried to get there we ended up in cascades garden. The plants were magnificent – apparently there is 11.2 acres under the glass ceiling with about a zillion varieties of exotic tropical plants! There was a tunnel we could go through to stand right behind 2 waterfalls. The temperature is kept at 72of all year round. By far the most exciting part was when Bob found a Punga Tree to remind him of home!

We were going to go on a paddle steamer cruise – but they don’t run at this time of year. So instead we went to the mall and got some warm boots. When we all got bored of the mall (& when dad told us it was time to go), we went back to the camper and started peeling of the graphics on the back of the R.V. I was on the roof, on my stomach taking of the word Winnebago, Deanna and Emma were taking of the word Adventurer, and dad was taking of the stripe on the back. We were racing! I won Dad came in close second. The others were so far behind I had to help them! Next dad and I cleaned the R.V while the others watched. Then came the task of putting the 'idiot proof' vinyl on. Which it actually was - Dad says it's easier than it looks & he wonders what all the fuss is about!

When it was nearly done a security person came and heard our accent and asked if we were from Australia and we said “no look at the sign it says KIWIS” and the guy looked at the sign and said “are you staying permanently?” and we said “no, look at the sign it says ON TOUR”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
