Hi its Amy again – the blog seems to have adopted me lately. This post is coming to you from the town of Blind River (pop. 3500) on the northern shore of Lake Huron. Weather is still fine & sunny as it has been since the day before Talladega... which seems a long time ago. Definately colder however it doesn't look like we'll encounter any snow this sortie into Canada. After the difficulties outlined in our last post, great news!!! The next morning we stopped of at a car-fix-it place where Sam, well you can probably guess, (and Dad told you yesterday) ……fixed our flashers.
Then we headed of in search of the wilderness. On the drive north towards Moonlight Bay (our overnight campsite) Deanna, Emma and I went down the back of the RV to play silly buggers away from mum and dad. When
we calmed down to come back to the front we found the scenery had changed remarkably – instead of being a green & grassy place, suddenly we had arrived in the pride lands (or so it seemed). Everything was brown & yellowy - the only difference from the real pride lands is the amount of rocks... there were so many of them! But the sparkly blue lakes overpowered that so it still seemed like the pride lands to me. Dad reckoned it reminded him of the desert road except the road was often carved out of rock. Finally we got to Moonlight Bay which was a tiny settlement with a campsite/cabins - region is called French River, about 50 km south Sudbury. It was nearly dark when we arrived but we still wanted to play out side. So of course we did. There was a tiny wharf that stopped, then continued by a floating jetty which was attached to a rope, which in turn was attached to some really big rocks either side of it. I lay down on my stomach to prevent me from falling and got hold of the rope and I pulled and pulled until it was close enough for Deanna to j
ump across onto it then she would hold it in place while Emma and I jumped onto it and if we wanted to get back we just pulled on the ropes and voila, it was close enough to jump back.Apart from that the views were remarkable & mind-blowing. We were parked on a road in the campsite in between a whole lot of cabins because the campsite was closed, but we managed to talk the lady into letting us stay the night. In my opinion because of that we got the best view you could get.
By the way, you can enlarge any of our photos by clicking on them... til tomorrow...
Great blogs Amy - you are a pro. Love the pic of Alex - that is just great. Thanks Dave for the text - I managed to find where you were and see that it is certainly a remote area. Glad you got things fixed in the RV.
