u gotta love New York

I’m glad we woke up early because this morning we got lost… we took the right train the wrong way. We got right to the end of the track and had know idea where we were, so when the train driver went to swap ends, he set us back on the straight and narrow! After that we hopped on the train under the Hudson River to ground zero. Dad told us all the interesting facts like they fell down in 2001, there were 4 groups involved with the high jacking (BTW if you haven’t heard about September the 11th, you need to its equally tragic and fascinating) we then hopped on yet another double decked bus tour all the way over to... the Rock.

You are probably wondering what “The Rock” is, well it’s a really tall building, like the empire state building, proper name is the Rockefella Centre. But they say it has a way better view of NYC. I think they were right, it was AMAZING! There was also an ice rink and a giant Christmas tree down the bottom - both are really famous New York landmarks - check out the photos. After being up there for ages, Amy started to get cold so she went inside (after all, there was still some snow up there from last night!). Later on I started to get cold so I went to see what Amy was up to, see had found a cool room that when you walk in and it gives you a colour on the ceiling and it followed you were ever you went! Once back on ground level, the olds shouted us a portrait as a New York souvenir - they reckon the likeness isn't great but we love it!

We then took the Bus to central park where we had our lunch, it was beautiful! For the rest of the afternoon we took the NY uptown tour till time square. I didn't know that the second largest cathedral in the world was in New York (well it's about the 4th oldest if you include bassilicas. If you want to know the difference, a cathedral needs a bushop, otherwise it's a bassilica). I think Emma had had enough of bus tours by the end of that one!

It wasn't quite dark and we needed to see times square at night so we grabbed a coke in a nearby bar till it got dark, LOL. Later we made our way out to see all the lights everyone talks about in Times Square, well now I know why they do, there are over 100 lit up signs. And millions of people! In Time Square we got a yummy hotdog and a really cool I love NY t-shirt each!

I think we all drunk a little too much coke cos there was a collective need to pee! So we went looking for a McD's but found a place called Charmin which was... well... a huge place dedicated to relieving the masses swarming Times Square. You've never seen such a performance - music, staff, loads of fun and games, all dedicated to... well... going to the dunny!

New York is so much fun and I can’t wait till tomorrow!!! from the Big D.

PS. We love to know who's reading and to hear from you guys - keep the comments coming!

  1. Hey there, I was beginning to wonder if the big storm had got you. There's been pictures on our new of people blown off the road in upstate New York, so glad it hasn't caused you too much grief.

We have had a lovely week weather wise, and I'm heading to a Barbie tomorrow at the old house with the pool, so hopefully the weather will hold. It's Christmas in the Park here tonight, but I'm not going, been flat out with Christmas events and looking forward to an evening off.

I'm so glad you are having a fab time, Uncle Steve is off Ocean Swimming today, so I'm thinking of him too.

    Love and Hugs
